Privacy mattered more than the view

Our first accommodation had a shared kitchen and bathroom. I liked the chance to meet other travelers; Genesis preferred more privacy. Neither preference was new to us, but traveling together made it a decision we needed to make together.

The day began with a look across Asunción and a conversation about how the city felt to us. Genesis talked about the cold compared with Guayaquil and the warmth of the people we had met. Those impressions sat alongside a very ordinary task: checking that nothing was left behind before moving our bags.

The luggage changed the transport plan

The first car was small, and its front seat would not move back. Fitting both of us and our luggage was not straightforward. Before another move like this, I would confirm the car size for the actual bags, not just the number of passengers.

Arrival brought a different surprise. We climbed the stairs and found a very compact room with a kitchen and bathroom. The episode shows our first reaction, then plans to connect to Wi-Fi, get groceries and start work. It does not include an internet reliability test or a long-term review of the property.

For a similar stay, the questions I would carry forward are simple: which facilities are private, how much space is usable once the luggage is inside, and what stairs or other access details will matter on arrival. A listing’s photos are only part of that decision.

What our driver wanted us to know

When we asked where to explore in Paraguay, our driver encouraged us to look beyond the capital and mentioned Piribebuy. That is a recommendation heard during this ride, not a destination we visited in this episode.

Genesis also asked why some streets had seemed so quiet at night. The driver responded with strong views about getting around and described a robbery he had experienced while driving. His account belongs to him. It is not a verified crime rate, a neighborhood safety map or proof that every resident shares his assessment.

The conversation continued through Mercado 4 and local food. He mentioned borí borí, sopa paraguaya and chipa guazú, and suggested Lido Bar. We did not eat there in this film, so this page is not a restaurant review.

What made the ride memorable was hearing someone talk at length about his own city. To understand our experience, it helps to hear the conversation in context, including the questions and the shift toward food and everyday life.
