From the Costanera to the river, with Christopher at the helm.
Genesis and I went down to Asunción’s riverfront, asked about two boat routes and chose the longer ride toward the Héroes del Chaco bridge. Here is what we found—and the scenes that help you plan your own visit.

We approached the boats from the beach and asked about the route, duration and price before boarding.

The ride took us out of the bay toward the Héroes del Chaco bridge, with ships and the city seen from the water.

Back to the Costanera
We returned to the riverfront. This was an excursion, not our transport to another country or a one-way ferry crossing.
At the beach, we were offered a short loop of about 20 minutes near the port and a longer ride of about an hour toward the bridge. We checked that the longer option came back, then joined the departing boat.
That distinction matters when comparing a search result with this film. A commuter ferry, a wildlife excursion and a beach-departure sightseeing ride can all appear under “Asunción boat tour,” while taking you on different journeys.
Our captain introduced himself as Christopher. The conversation moved from the bridge to ships and life along the river. We also each briefly took the wheel with him beside us. That was a moment from this particular trip, not an activity we can promise another operator will offer.
What to confirm before boarding
Ask for the route and the return point together. In the episode, Genesis checks that the boat goes toward the bridge and comes back. Confirm the total duration, whether it stops anywhere and where you finish.
Get a current total in guaraníes. Our on-camera conversation includes a per-person quote for each option. It belongs to that August visit, so we have not turned it into a current fare table. Ask whether the quoted amount is per person or for the whole boat, what is included and how payment works.
Check the actual departure and equipment. Some boats were already reserved when we arrived. Ask the operator about availability, weather, river conditions and a properly fitting life jacket for each passenger. The filmed departure is not a fixed timetable.
At the end of the episode, Christopher describes operating from the middle of Costanera Norte beach, from 9am to sunset. Treat that as what he said during our visit; reconfirm before making a special trip.
SENATUR’s August 14–16, 2026 event listing also described an hour-long Costanera-to-bridge ride with advance reservations. It corroborates the activity, but its dates have passed and it does not establish that the listed operator is Christopher.
